A long mix needs more than one session
To tap BPM across YouTube mixes, divide the program into stable regions. A DJ set, workout mix, recital, or compilation can change tracks, tempo, pulse level, and arrangement. One continuous tap run across transitions creates intervals that answer no clear section question.
Map approximate regions in private notes, then create a separate local card for each. The site does not receive the mix URL or map.
Start and stop away from transitions
Listen through a transition before measuring it. Identify when the incoming groove becomes stable and when the next blend begins. Start after the pulse is established and stop before layers conflict or tempo bends.
If the transition itself is the subject, create short cards on both sides and perhaps one inside the blend. Label them neutrally as “before,” “blend,” and “after.” Do not combine their intervals into one summary.
Worked three-section map
Section A produces sixteen intervals over 8,000 ms, or 120 observed BPM. Section B produces sixteen over 7,500 ms, or 128 BPM. Section C produces sixteen over 7,111 ms, about 135 BPM.
The session comparator reports minimum 120, maximum about 135, range about 15, and median 128. This describes the three cards. It does not claim a smooth acceleration; track changes or different pulse choices could create the steps.
If playback was at 0.8× for all three, corrected source estimates are 150, 160, and about 168.75. Preserve both observed and source sets rather than mixing them.
Keep pulse labels comparable
A house section may invite quarter-note kick taps while a breakbeat section draws attention to snare or subdivision patterns. Write a pulse note with each card. If Section C’s 135 is actually a half-time backbeat and Section B’s 128 is quarter-note pulse, numerical comparison is misleading.
Use half/base/double candidates to inspect simple 1:2 relationships. Compound patterns can require more context than those three rows provide.
Build a practical observation table outside the site
A local note can contain section label, approximate external location, tap count, summary type, observed BPM, speed, corrected source BPM, warnings, and review date. Avoid private links and personal identifiers. The copied cards supply arithmetic; the user controls any persistent table.
This site does not offer a saved mix timeline, account, playlist import, or database. That constraint keeps the calculator from implying media monitoring.
Review transitions separately
Tempo-matched blends can still create unstable tap cues when percussion overlaps. A wide interval range during a blend may reflect competing accents, not actual rate change. Use a shorter consistent cue or wait until one track dominates.
A deliberate tempo ramp deserves multiple short chronological observations. Do not average the ramp and call the result the track BPM. Preserve direction in notes because the general comparator sorts values.
Choose a card naming scheme
Use simple identifiers such as A1, A2, B1, or “before blend” and “after blend.” Include a review date and keep any sensitive mix title outside the copied card. A consistent scheme lets a collaborator align summaries without requiring the site to store a timeline. If a section is repeated later, create a new card rather than overwriting the earlier snapshot.
Preserve every card as its own snapshot.
Use consistent speed and device settings
Record external playback speed for every section. A speed change made to inspect one transition changes observed wall-time rate. Correct sessions to source time before comparing them.
Use one input device where practical. Switching from keyboard to touch can add a new physical timing factor. Keep the tap page visible and avoid heavy background tasks.
Limits and local scope
The tool cannot detect track boundaries, beatmatch, tempo ramps, song identity, or mix structure. It does not retrieve a URL, playlist, chapters, captions, audio, video, or thumbnails. It cannot monitor changes to an uploaded mix.
Tap cards represent human observation. A session can be affected by pulse choice, transition density, browser scheduling, and playback speed. No database-quality catalog claim is made.

Should I tap through a crossfade?
Only if the blend itself is the question and one pulse remains clear. Otherwise make cards before and after.
Can I save a mix map here?
No. The launch site has no account or persistent history. Store copied cards in a location you control.
Should all sections use the same pulse?
Use comparable pulse levels when comparing numbers, and label differences when the music demands another level.
Can median describe the whole mix?
It is the center of entered section summaries, not a claim that the full mix has one tempo.
